Every bride is a 10

Every bride is a 10. Almost sounds like a movie title, doesn’t it? Though this question probably dates me more than I care to admit, do you remember the 1979 movie, “10,” starring Bo Derek and Dudley Moore? This romantic comedy popularized the rating of one’s physical attractiveness on a scale of 1-10.

While usually nothing more than tongue-in-cheek conversation filler between friends, rating our looks on a scale of 1-10 tends to fade into the background once we realize a person’s physical attractiveness comprises merely a fraction of them as a whole person.

However, there’s no denying that everyone desires to be thought of as physically attractive. The truth is each of us is beautiful in our own way. And this is especially true of every bride. Every bride is a 10.

Whenever I’m photographing a bride or bride-to-be, I try to do everything possible to help her look like the 10 that she is. How do you photograph every bride as a 10?

Shoot to her strengths

As a photographer, my goal is not to make you look like someone you’re not, but rather to photograph you, the unique you, the real you. Everyone has an attractive physical trait or two. Maybe it’s your eyes or your hair or your curves or your smile or your hands or any one of a hundred other physical attributes. When I’m photographing a bride, I’m always thinking of how I can shoot her in such a way as to highlight that which makes her look like a 10.

Encourage her

When I’m photographing a bride or bride-to-be, I want her to look and feel like her, not someone she’s not. I like to offer positive encouraging feedback constantly. I’ve found the more she is at ease and comfortable, the more beautiful she looks. Some of my favorite bridal images have been candid moments when she was just being goofy or happy or contemplative or just bring herself.

Post her photos

From day one, Beaufort Photography Co. made the decision to post some of every client’s photo shoot. We have friends that only post their most attractive brides and seemingly perfect couples; to each his own. We make it our goal to blog every wedding and engagement session. While not every photo shows up on every platform, between our website, blog, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest we strive to post some of every bride’s photo shoot because she is someone’s perfect 10.
