Collecting

I’m a life-long, self-professed, perpetual collector. In addition to top wedding photography questions, I collect, well, I collect lots of things.

Among my collections are Hot Wheels, comic books, Taylor Swift CDs, James Bond 1:43 scale cars, autographs, Pan Am clipper memorabilia, and vintage fountain pens.

Why do we collect? The short answer is that half the fun is in the search; half the value is in the hunt. To search for years for a 1940s blue moiré Eversharp Skyline fountain pen with 14K gold flexible nib makes the find all the more exciting.

To stumble across a 1930 autographed first edition of Don Blanding’s Hula Moon is sheer joy. To win on auction a letter written and delivered aboard Pan Am’s 100th transatlantic flight in a Boeing 314 clipper is nothing short of fantastic.

Top wedding photography questions

While many collections are meant for display only, some collections are meant to be used. Such as my growing collection of top wedding photography questions.

As a wedding photographer, I happen across dozens of questions from brides-to-be, wedding planners, groomsmen, mothers-of-the-bride, wedding professionals, and just about everyone else. So over the next few months, I’m going to unpack twenty or so of the most frequently asked wedding photography questions I hear. I’ll group them under several headings – Booking, Wedding, Photos, Tech, Miscellaneous.

And, please, feel free to send your questions our way.

Booking Questions

1 – Is wedding/engagement photography your main, full time business?

Yes, it is! While we also photograph lifestyle portraits and landscapes from time to time, Beaufort Photography Co. is a full time wedding and engagement photography company. Capturing your most special day and telling your story in photographs that will last a lifetime is what gets us out of bed each morning. And we shoot 365 days a year; 366 if you count leap days 🙂

2 – How much of a deposit do you require to hold a date? When is the balance due? What forms of payment do you accept? Will a contract of services be provided?

In order to reserve a date and time, we only require a signed contract and 25% retainer fee. The balance of your engagement or wedding collection fee is due no later than 30 days prior to your event. We accept the three C’s – cash, check, and credit cards.

3 – What makes you different from other photographers?

How we view your special day and relationships is unique to Beaufort Photography Co. We do not just take a few posed pictures. Rather, we tell your unique story in photographs. We celebrate YOU! Unlike so many photographers today, we didn’t just go out, buy a digital camera, and decide to take pictures. We’ve been doing photography in one form or another for over 25 years. The creative aspects of photography, as well as the technical aspects, are equally important to us. Quite simply, we want to capture your most special of days with photographs that take your breath, cause you to remember, and leave you smiling every single time you look at them.
